How many teams does Safa FC have?
We have 3 teams playing in the Dubai Amateur League. One team each in 3 divisions.

Where do you play and train?
Our league consists of 'home and away' games so we play on pitches all over Dubai. Training sessions are also held at different locations depending on the pitch availability and league game commitments. Contact us to know where we are playing/training now.

Do you train at Safa Park any more?
Not really. We do go back a few times a year when all other pitches are closed for maintenance.

When and how often do you play/train?
During the season we generally train once and play one league game per week. During off-season we train twice or thrice a week. The training sessions and league games usually kick off at 8.30 PM during weekdays. We do not play at all during the weekends - Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays.

What kind of surface do you play on? Do you play indoor football?
We play only on outdoor natural grass surface(even in the summer). We do not play indoor football at all.

When does the season start and end?
The 11 a side season runs from September - May and the 7 a side season from June - July. We train and play friendly games around the year without any breaks.

How good are you players?
At the top level, we have one or two ex-professional and several ex-semi-professional players so the standard of football is quite good. Even for our third team, the level of ability and fitness required is quite high. Fitness wise we have a 3km run regularly and our average player timing is 11.30 minutes and the club record is 9.47 minutes. That should give you an idea of how fit you have to be to play in the league!

Can anyone join Safa FC?
No. We are only accepting players who are good enough to break into one of our 11 a side teams.

How often are tryouts held? Are they open for anyone?
Our tryouts are held during our friendly training games that we play most weeks. Anybody aged 16 or over can tryout with us.

If I did not get selected at first trials, can I tryout once again?
Yes.

Do you pay your players or arrange visas for them?
No. We are an amateur club. Amateur clubs do not pay players in Dubai.

Is there a fee to join the club?
Yes. The club is self funded so there is a monthly membership fee of AED 150 per player(to cover pitch fees and league charges etc). There is also a yearly league registration fee of  AED 100, which allows you to play in the league.

Can I join the club if I can't get into a league team?
No.

Is there an age limit to join?
Yes. We only accept players who are at least 16 years old. There is no upper age limit as long as you can run and play football! 

Do you provide transportation for the players?
We have players coming from almost all locations in Dubai, Sharjah and even Al Ain, RAK and Abu Dhabi! You 'might' be able to get a ride to the games depending on where you live.

Do you run a football academy or soccer school for kids?
No.  But we do know where your kids can get proper football training in Dubai. Please get in touch with us for details.
